Stabilized zinc oxide from Thailand, used for drenching livestock and pasture treatment to aid in the prevention of facial eczema. Contains 99% zinc oxide plus stabiliser, providing a minimum of 79.5% zinc. Available in 20kg bags.

Key Benefits:
Can be used for prevention of zinc deficiency, facial eczema protection.

Methods of Feeding:
Supa Zinc is suitable for the drenching of stock or for adding to silage or feeds. Supa Zinc can be supplemented at low rates to help prevent the effects of dietary zinc deficiency, or at higher rates to prevent facial eczema.

Feeding Directions:
Dietary Supplementation
Add 0.5–1g of Supa Zinc to the drench or feed of lactating cows, or at rates as recommended by your nutritionist or veterinarian.

Facial Eczema Prevention:
For the protection of stock against the effects of facial eczema, Supa Zinc treatment should be commenced two weeks before the facial eczema season commences, but can be used during an outbreak to provide protection.

Pasture dusting: see table on bag for dose rates.

Drenching: Mix 1kg of Supa Zinc into 1L of water – stir well to produce 1.2L and dose at 3ml per 100kg live weight.

Important Notes:
Start treatment before facial eczema conditions are likely and continue into the cooler months. Typically, start feeding in January and continue until April.

The longer the interval between doses, the less successful the level of protection (80-90% protection for daily dosing; 60-70% for weekly treatment to 50-60% at two weekly intervals).

When treating every two weeks, treatments should be brought forward if there is a danger period in the last half of the interval.

Milking cows are best treated daily. Do not treat cows at greater than three day intervals as this may cause milk fever.

Whenever possible, weigh animals and treat according to body weight.
If pasture dusting or spraying, where possible, only cover enough pasture with Supa Zinc to allow for the next 24 hours feed intake. If the area will not be grazed in the immediate 24 hours, the dose rate may need to be increased.

Uptake of the zinc is lower when feed is limited. Under these conditions, dose rates will need to be increased 15%.

For pasture spraying, apply in sufficient water to ensure good coverage, avoid runoff and keep the tank agitated.

Zinc can be toxic if given at higher than recommended rates for the prevention of facial eczema and/or for prolonged periods of time. The copper, selenium and calcium status of animals should be assessed at the completion of zinc treatment.

There is NO WITHHOLDING PERIOD.
