Nutrient Comments


Nitrogen
Minor nitrogen deficiencies are difficult to detect and require early season leaf. analysis enabling sufficient time for correction while both canopy and fruit can respond. Any visual symptoms may appear on older leaves, a change in colour from dark to light green.


Potassium
Potassium deficiency is widespread, dry growing conditions or moisture stress will reduce vine uptake. Symptoms may become apparent even where soil levels are good.


Magnesium
Deficiencies are not usually observed until February in older leaves of the current seasons extension growth.

Manganese deficiencies have been found on high pH soils (pH6.8) and toxicity identified on low pH soils (pH 5.2)


Boron
Kiwifruit are a boron sensitive crop, excessive boron can lead to a reduction of fruit yield and premature ripening in cool storage.


Other
Pitting disorder of fruit has been linked to low soil pH, low soil calcium or high phosphorous levels.
