The Tagtek EID loop tag was born out of frustration in 2006 when the founders of Tagtek felt that the industry standard EID button tags were too heavy and unsuitable for lambs in their own North Island based flock .
This led to poor retention and ear damage, The need to come up with a lightweight electronic ear tag to provide lifetime ID that could be used from birth saw The establishment of Tagtek.
Tagtek looked all around the world and decided to base the Tagtek EID Loop tag on the very successful Symtag visual fold over tag that has been manufactured and sold by the Symonds family in Bristol, England for over thirty years and is one of the UK & Irelands leading sheep tags.
The Symtag is proven over time in the UK and trials of the Symtag in New Zealand proved successful, so much so that Tagtek now offer the Symtag visual fold over tag exclusively to our New Zealand customers.
